What does the bible say about pregnancy? What are some bible verses for pregnancy that can be found in the Holy Word?
When I was pregnant, I kept wondering what the bible said about pregnancy and if there are any bible verses for pregnancy.
I have dug out my favorite verses that are about pregnancy and compiled them into this blog post.
Bible Verses For Pregnancy

While there aren’t many verses about the pregnant woman herself, there are a few that talk about a fetus, how God created them, formed them, and already loved them.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mothers womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. -Psalm 139:13-14
Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you even at my mother’s breast. From birth I was cast upon you; from my mother’s womb you have been my God. – Psalm 22:9-10
As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything. -Ecclesiastes 11:5
How amazing it is that our Christ and Saviour created the little babies inside our wombs. I cannot imagine how people can conceive and birth a child without believing there is a higher power at play. Every second of this process is a miracle. Every cell, every little molecule.
As pregnant women, we can feel blessed to be bestowed with such an honor because God is using YOU to create a miracle.
Verses for Anxiety and Fear

Pregnancy can come with its fair share of anxiety and fear. Birth is scary as it is unknown. We do not know what the future holds and this can put our minds at unrest.
Here are some verses that will help you keep calm when you are feeling afraid.
You will keep in perfect peace, him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal. -Isaiah 26:3
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. -1 Peter 5:7
I can do everything through him who gives me strength. -Philippians 4:13
He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will look in triumph on his foes. -Psalm 112:7
My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness, so that Christ‘s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ‘s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. -2 Corinthians 12:8-10

Verses for Giving Birth

As a woman who has gone through birth 2 times herself and as a labor doula I know birth can be scary and many women are terrified of giving birth.
All those traumatic birth stories don’t help. Here are some positive birth stories you should give a read!
This verse is directly spoken to a laboring woman, and you may find it comforting.
When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. -John 16:21
Verses about the Blessings of Children

Most people feel like children are a blessing. But the bible is very straight forward. The process of conceiving, birthing, and raising a child is a reward given to us from God.
Let’s all try and remember this when our children throw temper tantrums in the future (especially me!)
Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. -Psalm 127:3-4
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created. -James 1:17-18
He will love you, bless you, and multiply you. He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your wine and your oil, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock, in the land that he swore to your fathers to give you. -Deuteronomy 7:13
